Mickey Woodard joins MLT
from the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission where he has practiced
for 25 years, most recently as Senior Counsel. He conducted nearly
all inquiry and tribunal presentations for the Commission during
that time, becoming a seasoned litigator with a total of nearly
100 appearances at the Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench
and Saskatchewan Court of Appeal during his time with the Commission,
as well as many more appearances before tribunals and boards
of inquiry.
Mickey participated in a number of ground breaking decisions
on reasonable accommodation, systemic discrimination and sexual
harassment, including a number of precedent-setting cases at
the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mickey spent much of his time at the Commission researching
and drafting opinions, providing advice to Commission staff and
representing the Chief Commissioner. He has been heavily involved
in public legal education for many years with organizations like
the Saskatchewan Legal Education Society Inc. and the Canadian
Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies.
Mickey received his Queen’s Counsel designation in 1998.
