Tax Planning and Tax Dispute Resolution

Crystal designs tax-efficient corporate structures and advises on succession planning and creditor-protection for small to medium sized businesses, including drafting shareholder agreements. She also designs strategies for acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, reorganizations and financing and she has been involved in tax efficient retirement and estate planning, including estate freezes, income splitting techniques, family trusts, wills, powers of attorney and creditor-proof structures.

Crystal also advises various charities and non-profit organizations on incorporation, ongoing operational issues and income tax and GST rules relating to charities and non-profit organizations. She has significant experience dealing with Canada Revenue Agency, Charities Directorate in relation to both the registration and auditing of charities.

Crystal has significant experience designing tax-efficient ownership structures and corporate restructuring for tax-exempt entities, including First Nations. She also advises clients on provincial income tax, capital tax and sales tax in commercial transactions and business structures, as well as minimizing the impact of GST on such transactions and structures.

Crystal has also been a lecturer at the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan on tax law.
