Doug Osborn acts for a
wide range of corporate and commercial clients, from small local
businesses to large corporations with national and international
operations. An approachable personal style and clear, concise
legal advice are the cornerstones of Doug's philosophy.
Doug's practice is principally focused on commercial lending and
business acquisitions. He acts for diverse commercial lenders -
banks, private financiers, trust companies, credit unions and life
insurance companies - across the entire spectrum of lending - term
debt, real estate, operating credits and equity financing. Some
of Doug's largest transactions have been in the agribusiness and
food processing sectors. He acted as lead counsel for the lender
in the refinancing, restructuring and subsequent expansion of one
of Western Canada's largest food processors, a series of transactions
involving not only local shareholders but also US interests. Doug
was also lead Saskatchewan counsel for the lender in the $65 million
financing of a large livestock operation. Doug deals with business
sales and purchases of all sizes. He was involved in the acquisition
of a large agricultural implement manufacturer and as lead Saskatchewan
counsel in the sale of a potash mine operation.
Doug's experience with transactions ranging from small business
loans to financing and sale arrangements worth tens and hundreds
of millions of dollars has made him one of the most sought after
legal advisors on commercial lending in Saskatchewan. His work
with First Nations' clients currently focuses on gaming and project
development.
