Gordon Beck articled with
a large Edmonton law firm and moved to the position of Senior
Tax Manager with the Edmonton office of an international accounting
firm on admission to the Alberta Bar in 1989. He continued to
focus his practice on taxation law while working with Edmonton
law firms in the following years, including a corporate/commercial
boutique and a significant Alberta regional firm. Gordon joined
MLT in 2006 to further pursue his practice interests of exploring
the tax implications of corporate/commercial transactions and
representing clients in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue
Agency in Tax Court and the Federal Court, as well as by alternate
means. His experience extends across both income taxation and
goods and services taxation.
Gordon has served as a member of the Commodity Taxation Committee
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and as an
executive member of committees of the Northern Alberta Branch
of the Canadian Bar Association. He has presented numerous papers
to groups such as the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Legal Education
Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian
Institute of Chartered Accountants and the University of Alberta.
Gordon is active in recreational golfing, running and hockey
and as a member of his church. |
