Firm History

Our firm was founded in Regina by Murdoch Alexander MacPherson, Q.C. in 1920. He was born on Cape Breton Island in 1891 and studied law at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Everett Clayton Leslie joined the firm as a student in 1925 and the practice became known as MacPherson & Leslie when he was admitted to the Bar in the following year.

In 1929 David McIntyre Tyerman and James Paul joined the firm, and M.A. MacPherson left temporarily to assume the position of Attorney General and Treasurer of the Province of Saskatchewan. M.A. MacPherson returned to the practice in 1935. Later that year James Paul left the firm and it became known as MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman.

An amalgamation with the practice of Robert H. Milliken, Q.C. lasted from 1937 to 1951. Since that time the firm has been known by its present name.

In order to meet the expanding needs of our clients MLT established offices in Saskatoon in 1980, Calgary in 2002 and Edmonton in 2006. The lawyers at today's MLT are proud to continue a long tradition of providing quality, value-based legal services to the firm's clients.
