Litigation

Our litigation group has strong and deep credentials in all types of litigation including commercial contract disputes, mass tort actions, intellectual property claims, tax litigation, banking, construction and property claims, and insurance-related litigation including personal injury, professional liability, property, casualty and subrogated claims. We are a Western Canadian leader in class actions and complex contractual and multi-party lawsuits. Our lawyers have been involved in a large number of significant cases involving products liability and other mass tort actions, securities and other investors' claims, pensions, biotechnology and commercial claims, and they regularly participate in multi-jurisdictional class proceedings.

While our practice focus is in Alberta and Saskatchewan, our team of seasoned litigators has argued significant cases in Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia. We have represented clients in all manner of actions before superior courts, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. A number of our senior lawyers are also experienced in alternative dispute resolution strategies.

Our litigators can also assist with corporate criminal charges and regulatory offences involving taxation, customs and excise, unfair competition, wildlife, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety infractions, providing strategic advice to help ensure compliance or assist when an organization, its officers or directors become the subject of an investigation or charge. We have extensive experience dealing with a broad range of regulatory agencies and tribunals with jurisdiction over human rights, water quality safety, information and privacy, liquor and gaming, and insurance. We represent individuals, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governments and Crown corporations.
